The Great Skate
In collaboration with Power Forward, we hosted The Great Skate, an ice skating event that brought the community together to raise awareness and funds for those battling substance use disorder. Attendees had the unique opportunity to skate alongside former Boston Bruins players, making it an unforgettable experience for fans and supporters alike. This event highlighted the power of sports and teamwork in uniting people to support recovery and wellness initiatives.
The David Lewis 5k
The David Lewis 5K was created in memory of Amy Doherty’s brother, David Lewis, who passed away. Organized with love and dedication, this event honored David’s life and his journey while raising funds for recovery-focused programs. Each step taken by participants was a tribute to David and a step forward in breaking the stigma surrounding substance use disorder.
Curl for a Cause
In 2023, we joined forces with the Falmouth Curling Club for Curl for a Cause, a unique and lively event that introduced many to the sport of curling. Participants and spectators came together to raise critical funds for WellStrong's programs, supporting individuals on their recovery journeys. This partnership underscored the value of community engagement in making recovery accessible and sustainable.
Ride for Recovery
In 2019, WellStrong member Connor O’Reilly embarked on an incredible journey, cycling from Cape Cod to California to raise awareness and funds for recovery. Over the course of his cross-country adventure, Connor inspired countless individuals with his determination and dedication to breaking the stigma of addiction. His ride not only raised funds but also served as a powerful message of hope and resilience.
RUN for Recovery
In 2021, our former Program Director Sarah Roberts undertook an extraordinary challenge, running over 270 miles from Vermont to Cape Cod. Her journey highlighted the importance of endurance, strength, and community in recovery. Sarah’s run raised significant funds to support WellStrong while spreading awareness and inspiring countless individuals to get involved in the recovery movement.
Roll for Recovery
In 2022, Jamie Schuh laced up her roller skates and completed over 200 miles in less than two weeks as part of Roll for Recovery. Her inspiring journey demonstrated that recovery is about persistence and breaking down barriers. Jamie’s effort raised vital funds and started important conversations about addiction, proving that no distance is too far when it comes to fighting for recovery and breaking stigma.
